Dirtbombs LIVE!
Last night we staggered through the sticky night to the Blind Pig to see 25 Suaves and the Dirtbombs…
25 Suaves is a husband & wife band from Adrian, MI - Pete Larson sings and plays a really LOUD flying V, and Fumi Kawasaki beats the hell out of a drumset. Bass? No room! These guys were really, really fucking metal - not black metal, or 80s metal, but like authentic Motörhead metal (loud guitars, fast songs, gravelly screamed vocals), which is fuckin a-excellent in my book. I don’t think that they were expecting much from the crowd, but after a passionate speech about the Phonecian alphabet and love (I think), Ann Arbor was all in. Really good set, and they even did a cover of Judas Priest’s Hell Bent For Leather. Those fuckers know how to properly end a song, too! We even bought a cd, because they rocked so damn hard.
The Dirtbombs were amazing as always - it was great to see the 2-drum/2-bass setup on that tiny-ass stage. Mick got sweaty and broke lots of strings, the twin drummers were insane (as usual), Ko made her rock-out face all night long, and the new bass player was great. AND we even got a half cover of I Wanna Be Your Dog. All this (and the opportunity to drink $1.75 budweisers) for a measly ten bucks? Outasight.

Glad to see your blog up and running, old bean. I say, those Dirtbombs are quite the performers. And 25 suaves were like 25 cocks in my mouth they were so fucking awesome! I was never much for Judas Priest, but the Suaves transformed that song. Also, it’s good to know that the young people still care about things that matter, like the Phoenician alphabet–where would we be today without it? What was that he kept saying? “Ok you guys gotta get with me on this one!!!!” Who could say no? Not I, old chum, not I.
love,

The bass player was totally trying to get up on me in Alexandria. He said my skin was soft. Then I went home with Bweenie. He has some pretty good solo stuff-check out itunes for Troy Gregory or myspace for Troy Gregory and the Stepsisters. I am so glad the Dirtbombs are back home!!! I am also glad you have a website. Now you can be famous. I got up at 7 today and did 8 loads of laundry at the laundromat (yay-no semen on the guest sheets!!!) while hanging out with a toothless dude named Robert Boss. He was a gentleman, just down on his luck is all. He told me a story about his neighbor Buzzy who went to Vietnam and when he came back he’d chinsaw down small trees in the yards of his neighbors. Buzzy the Chainsaw Massacre they called him. Fucking awesome.
